Transformation Concepts & Net Zero Strategies
Transformation Concepts & Net Zero Strategies
Climate targets, prices for energy and CO₂, regulations and climate risks influence economic success, competitiveness and investment decisions. We support you in assessing these requirements and translating them into a viable decarbonization strategy.
This is based on a well-founded carbon footprint, realistic CO₂ measures and reduction pathways, as well as site-specific analyses, cost-benefit assessments and appropriate governance structures. The result is a roadmap that links long-term net-zero targets with steps that can be implemented in the short and medium term.
Overview of Services for Designing Holistic Climate Strategies
Orientation & Fundamentals Workshop
We identify which components of a climate strategy are relevant to your specific circumstances, review existing information, and provide a technical assessment of the current state of affairs. If needed, we provide an introduction to GHG accounting and transformation concepts
Scenarios & GHG Reduction Pathways
We develop the GHG reduction pathways required for your transformation concept: at least one reference pathway and one greenhouse gas neutrality pathway. These are based on a comprehensive GHG inventory covering the key Scope 3 categories, technical mitigation options and realistically achievable reduction potentials.
Strategic Approaches for Net-Zero Targets
We derive specific action plans to achieve defined climate protection targets. These include, for example, fuel-switch approaches, technology shifts, process optimisation and energy efficiency measures.
Vulnerability, Materiality and Sensitivity Analyses
We analyze which factors are particularly relevant to your transformation. This may include a cost-benefit analysis—projected capital expenditures (CAPEX) and running costs (OPEX, e.g., energy costs, CO2 costs)—as well as the implementation of an internal CO2 price.
Climate Risk and Opportunity Analyses
We assess physical and transitional climate risks and identify which risks and opportunities may arise for sites, processes, value chains or business models.
Climate Change Adaptation Strategies
We assess which climate impacts are relevant to sites, processes or supply chains, e.g. heatwaves, heavy rainfall or water scarcity. Based on this, we develop measures for our clients to prevent damage and disruptions and to plan investments more effectively.
CO2-Market Mechanisms & Support Schemes
We assess the role that CO₂ market mechanisms and support schemes can play in the respective transition pathway.
Analysis Tool
FutureCamp®DecarbNavigator
Cost-Optimised Decarbonisation of Industrial Energy Systems
The decarbonisation of large-scale energy systems presents a highly complex challenge in terms of timing, capital allocation and risk management. We provide a solution for this with the FutureCamp®DecarbNavigator analysis tool: the key lies in the transition from an isolated assessment of individual measures to cost-optimised transition pathways. The results serve as key input for the development of the climate strategy.
Whitepaper
The Whitepaper on our Analysis Tool
The white paper on our analysis toolFutureCamp®DecarbNavigator demonstrates how the strategic use of the mathematical optimization model can be used to calculate cost-optimised transformation pathways and implement the decarbonisation of your energy systems in a cost-effective and targeted manner.
