Developing and Using Climate Projects

FutureCamp has been developing and managing climate protection projects for over 20 years – from the initial project idea through methodology application, project documentation, validation and monitoring, right through to the use, retiring and marketing of the resulting CO₂ credits or contribution claims. Having been involved in more than 100 climate projects both in Germany and abroad, we are familiar with the requirements of different project types, standards and CO₂ markets. We draw on this experience to assess the feasibility, implementation and use of certificates for your project idea from a technical, regulatory and economic perspective.

Where necessary, we develop project-specific methodologies by ourselves, for example regarding technical derivation or monitoring requirements. This also applies to Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) projects, i.e. nature-based or technical solutions for removing CO₂ from the atmosphere by temporary or permanent storage.

Our Services, from the Initial Project Idea through to the Use of Certificates

Capacity Building

Depending on your needs, we provide either the fundamentals or an in-depth understanding of project types, standards and the use of certificates and claims. This includes the Paris Agreement Credit Mechanism (PACM) with or without Corresponding Adjustments as well as standards in the Voluntary Carbon Markte, and the basic principles of every project, e.g. baseline, additionality, project scenario and carbon leakage.

Strategic Approach

Together with you, we clarify the objectives and decision-making framework for your project: Does your project take place within or outside your value chain? Which standards are applicable? How can CO₂ credits or contributions be utilised and communicated at a later stage, e.g. for CSRD reporting, voluntary climate action (Contribution Claims) or the offsetting of unavoidable residual emissions?

Feasibility Studies

We assess whether launching your own climate project or participating in an existing programme might be the better approach. Factors evaluated include the project region, target market, standard, methodology, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) requirements, expected reduction volumes, costs, revenue potential use options for the generated certificates/claims.

Project Development & Implementation

Once the decision to proceed with a specific project has been taken, we support you through the subsequent process: drafting the project design document (PDD), going through project validation by external auditors and registration with the relevant standard. In the aftermath, we accompany you with the regular MRV procedures.

Marketing & Use of Credits

We advise you as a project developer, on how to make economic use of the emission reductions or CO₂ sequestration generated by your projects – whether as offset credits or contribution claim for climate protection. We also assist you with contracting issues and manage your certificate account.
