Science-based Targets
Science-based Targets in Accordance with the SBTi – Strategic Target Development and Submission
The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) offers companies a science-based framework for setting climate targets and developing greenhouse gas reduction pathways that are consistent with the 1.5 °C pathway to the Paris Agreement’s net-zero target by 2050.
FutureCamp supports you through the five steps of commitment, development, submission, communication and disclosure of science-based targets. In doing so, we take into account the applicable SBTi criteria, cross-sectoral and sector-specific requirements, as well as the question of whether additional FLAG targets for CO₂emissions from forests, land use and agriculture are required.
Overview of Our Services
Fundamentals, System Boundaries & Target Variants
We guide you through the SBTi process, review relevant GHG inventory data, and work with you to determine the appropriate system boundaries, reduction targets, and SBTi target variants. In doing so, we also take sector-specific requirements into account.
Preparing the Greenhouse Gas Inventory
We prepare, review or complete the company’s internal greenhouse gas inventory in accordance with SBTi requirements, particularly with regard to the Scope 3 inventory and FLAG emissions.
Defining Emission Reduction Measures & Climate Transition Plans
We identify potential mitigation measures for the relevant emission categories in Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3, and support you in developing and updating climate transition plans. We structure targets, scopes, measures, assumptions, and dependencies, and use them to develop a robust roadmap—from near-term goals to net zero.
Developing Science-Based Targets
Together with you, we set the SBTs in accordance with the SBTi’s current requirements and criteria. As part of this process, we review your currently communicated climate targets against the SBTi requirements to ensure consistency and determine whether any adjustments are needed.
Preparing the Submission Form
Once the proposed targets have been finalised, we prepare the necessary information for the SBTi application form, checking the consistency of the entries and coordinating the content with your organisation.
Supporting the Validation Process
We provide support for any follow-up questions after a submission for validation, such as any inquiries from SBTi regarding the proposed target.
Annual Reporting & Revision of the SBTs
We assist with annual reporting to measure the progress of the submitted SBTs, as well as with any updates to the targets following changes to the requirements and criteria or significant changes to the base year.
